A4 vs Letter: compare before printing
Understand why an A4 document does not fit US Letter paper exactly.

A4 measures 210 × 297 mm. US Letter measures 8.5 × 11 inches, or 215.9 × 279.4 mm. Letter is wider, but A4 is taller. The formats are close enough to confuse, especially when a printer silently scales the document.
What changes when you switch?
A page designed for A4 may have content near the bottom that does not fit on Letter at its original scale. Choosing “fit” can avoid clipping, but changes the printed size. For a template or a drawing, check a known measurement after printing.
