Actual size vs fit: understand print scaling

A print dialog may offer an original-size option and an option to fit content to the printable area. These choices can produce different physical results from the same file.

Choose based on the task

For a measuring template, a change in scale matters. Use original size where available, then measure a known reference on the printed sheet. For a reading copy, fitting the content may be acceptable if it avoids clipping.

The printable area may be smaller than the sheet. If content falls outside it, review the margins, paper format and device capabilities. Do not assume that a matching paper name guarantees an unscaled print.
