Efficient cutting layouts save paper and reduce print costs.The key factors are the parent sheet size, the finished piece dimensions, margins, gutters (space between pieces), and whether pieces can be rotated.

Margins and Gutters
Margins are the empty space at the edges of the parent sheet — typically required by the printer's feed mechanism. Gutters are the space between individual pieces to allow for cutting tolerances. Adding even 2–3 mm of gutter can change the number of pieces per sheet, so it's worth testing both options.
